Spring Has Arrived
Spring has finally arrived and considering all the yard work here at Four Seasons is done for you, how about a hike.
Stay local and visit Cove Park , Chiques Park or Rapho Community Park. A little further and there is Chiques Rock near Columbia, or the hiking trail in back of the Spooky Nook Sports Complex, one exit east off route 283.
If you’re not into nature head to the downtowns of Mount Joy, Elizabethtown, or Lancaster to visit all the quaint shops. Finally, you can just stroll along the river in Harrisburg.

We’re now in the dead of winter ( the groundhog saw/didn’t see his shadow week) so what can we do? In our 55+ community we have plenty of indoor activities such as a bowling league, card playing., billiards, needling, Etc, but why not take a break and head out from Four Seasons and take a tour.
You can go to York, about a half hour away and tour the Harley-Davidson factory or if you have a sweet tooth, Wolfgang candies.
If you like snacks and would like to see how pretzels and potato chips are made, head to Hanover (about and hour’s drive) and take a tour at Utz or Snyders plants.
Or go an hour east to the Herr’s factory in Nottingham. Another interesting tour is about 2 hours away in Nazareth where you can tour the Martin guitar factory.
So if you like to see how things are made, these are some options that can be done in a day from Mount Joy.

Well, now that we are in November , autumn is in full swing.
When you live in a 55+ community like Four Seasons at Elm Tree, you don’t have to worry about trimming your bushes or raking leaves as that is doe for you. So what is there to do? Besides planning your Thanksgiving meal for family if you are the host, how about visiting an alpaca farm.
Eastland Alpacas is a working alpaca farm right outside of Mount Joy and every year in the first two weekends in November they have an open house where you can see alpacas up close ,tour the farm, and shop for some great holiday gifts.
Alpaca in ounce for ounce one of the warmest fibers around, so you may want to pick up a scarf, gloves, or even a coat for those cold winter days that are coming.
So think outside the box and bring your grandkids to a really fun affair.

Though we’ve had two spring snows so far, by the calendar spring is officially here. When you’re in a 55+ community like Four Seasons at Elm Tree you don’t have to worry about spring yard work as it’s taken care of for you. That leaves time to do some activities outside the community such as attending live theater. At Four Seasons, we are centrally located to many theaters which show live dramas, musicals, and comedies..
In Lancaster there is the Fulton Theater, which has actors equity productions and the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater with a tasty buffet to go along with their shows. Both are only 20 minutes or so away. A few minutes past Lancaster is the Ephrata Playhouse in Ephrata, and the Rainbow Dinner Theater a few miles east of Lancaster, which offers another buffet to compliment their comedy shows.
Musical reviews and concerts can be found at the American Music Theater, Ware Center and Winter Center in Lancaster, or the Strand in York (each are about a 30 minute drive). You can catch smaller productions at the Belmont Theater in York or at Open Stage or Harrisburg Community Theater in Harrisburg which are also a 30minute drive.
So put on your theater clothes (though there is no dress code at any of them) and get some tickets. It’s better than spring yardwork.

Well the groundhog saw his shadow, so we are faced with 6 more weeks of winter( or so it is said). So it’s time to watch the winter Olympics which start in a couple of days. This time they are being held in a town in South Korea that the average American can neither pronounce nor spell.
Living in Four Seasons At Elm Tree, if snowfall is greater than two inches, the plowing, shoveling, etc is taken care of for you. So just curl up in front of the tv and watch the events, and cheer for the Americans.
