Aging in place, in one’s home, is more familiar, less expensive, more flexible and most desired by seniors. Four Seasons at Elm Tree’s over-55 community here meets these requirements so well! We have been built-out, HOA governed w/our volunteer board and committees for years now. Changes in residents and in those who assume leadership roles revitalize our neighborhood while allowing introductions to each other and our common goals.
Nelson Mandela said: “Old age is like climbing a mountain. You climb from ledge to ledge. The higher you get, the more tired and breathless you become, but your views become more extensive.” Our physical views include other housing developments and many farmlands as well as the wonderful township park up the hill, great for walking and enjoying grandchildren’s fun.
The fall equinox has come and gone, prompting us to place orange pumpkins and gourds as outside decorations; farm markets have plenty of apples, cider, and squash ready for warmer recipes soon. Changes in school attendance is monitored by us grandparents, somewhat bewildered by what might be learned virtually.
We’re eating our pumpkin seeds, kale, eggs and orange carrots to help reduce the stress…orange we glad we live here?!
