SHORT & SWEET

Tigers and Groundhogs! Hearts and Flowers! Abe & George!
What a lot of fun to pack into the shortest month of the year! February.
Within our Four Seasons at Elm Tree development, we over-55s are constantly planning and tweaking ideas for our community’s entertainment and relaxation.
Our Mount Joy, PA location offers many local businesses for quick shopping needs and services. Therefore, we have time to spend together…exercising, stretching with Yoga, checking the library for new books and magazines, borrowing puzzles, too! Many of us are regularly bowling nearby, practicing songs in our singing group; some attend the monthly women’s and men’s lunches out or meetings and gatherings for billiards, cards, crafts and Happy Hours. Isn’t the golfing schedule being organized, too?
Our newsletter this month mentions a designated day for random acts of kindness. Being on the receiving end of small kindnesses actually has an effect on the brain, making a person more likely to be kind in return—psychologists call it “the norm of reciprocity.” Our neighborhood would get gold stars for this! The volunteers’ list for Mount Joy Food Bank deliveries is done as well as the Helping Hands’ list, particularly for shoveling snow this season. But, we easily can jump-start a cycle towards even gentler, more thoughtful months ahead…a Chinese New Year’s wish, perhaps?
So, wear your red for many of this month’s special holidays; it will contrast well with the white snow we’ve had thus far this winter, which we don’t have to worry about removing while living here!
Gung Hoi Fat Choi! Good Fortune to You!
