 We start another October…how many have we lived thus far? Where have we lived to cheer home football teams, to rake the colorful fallen leaves, to search for our sweaters, drink apple cider, and share so many autumn memories with families and friends? 

 Now, at Four Seasons at Elm Tree, in Mount Joy, PA, our over-55 community, we can reminisce with good neighbors as we find just the right pumpkin or bake apple pies, preparing for cooler weather as the season prompts us to do! 

Writer W. H. Auden said that we take after the land we inhabit…a contemplative thought! Land in our area is rich in farm soils, native plants that are propagated well, and the many people who continue to learn how to live well on it. 

 Many new opportunities are presented by the Social Committee this month from flu shots and Medicare info to a meal together and a Halloween gathering. 

 We’ve had new residents move in lately, too, so now we can offer to introduce them to some activities here! Golf, Bocce, Pickelball, exercising will be ongoing as bowling transitions some of us to indoor competition. The library in our clubhouse is always available, cards and board games are scheduled, Bingo Night is a monthly game, and all of us check the calendar and newsletter to be sure we know what’s happening!

 A Hunter’s Moon will shine as sunsets will become earlier. Mums and pumpkins already are seen to add to the curb appeal here. Warmth will come as we decide to turn on our heating, but a house is a structure, whereas a home evokes emotions, many warm ones!
