Greening

Greening!
We have listened again to “Alice’s Restaurant”, having introduced our
offspring to that Thanksgiving tradition, and are now outdoors adding
colored lights, green garlands and wreaths to our homes at Four Seasons
at Elm Tree. What an extra festive place in December!
Walking the neighborhood verifies studies showing that it can give you
the same feel-good sensation as Christmas! However, even if you
celebrate other seasonal holidays, access to green spaces, the outdoors,
brisk air and exercise brings you a better life span.
In our over-55 community, we realize that strangers are friendly and
friends are casual, shown when we gather for clubhouse activities such as
the holiday song fest or annual dinner. We have met many more new
neighbors in this past year, welcoming them as the Danes do via hygge, a
relaxing togetherness allowing everyone to share and gain memories. We
do that so well here!
“Giving back” certainly describes many outlets we choose to do almost
daily, often without scheduling…food bank donations, helping neighbors
who suddenly have a need, volunteering for various committees or board
positions, driving others for appointments or errands; the Helping Hands list
on our website also adds to opportunities for sharing our interests and
talents here.
Medieval settlements hung green pines over the door when they wished
passersby a welcome to come in for food and drink. We, at Four Seasons
at Elm Tree, wish all that same goodwill for the holidays!
