Twenty-Eight-Days
Posted on Feb 16th, 2018

Twenty-Eight-Days It’s a shorter month; it’s a bump in the year to zip through by living even better at Four Seasons at Elm Tree! We awaited the groundhog’s hopeful predictions for an early spring, and several of us have bought our flower seeds. Firecrackers were heard following the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl win; at least most of us were pleased! Mardi Gras equals fasnachts here in Lancaster County, an enjoyable tradition whether or not we’re wearing beads and masks, The Women’s Association will hold another Chocolate Walk, pleasing so many of us with special treats, and this was preceded by the Activities’ Club’s Valentine’s Day dinner in the “new” Great Room, so beautifully decorated for the occasion. Since we haven’t far to go for Asian food, Lunar New Year will have us using our chopsticks to celebrate The Year of the Dog. Clean the house and pay your debts as the Chinese do now! In our over-55 community, we’ve shared many stories from school days when Presidents’ Weekend was two holidays on February 12 and February 22. Cherry pies and pretzel log cabins were the norm, created for holiday fun. Now, we have the getaway weekend and sales galore. We also have the Winter Olympics to see us through chilly grey days and evenings. The Danish have the word “hygge” (hoo-gah) for comfort, togetherness and well-being, especially during their Scandinavian winters. This could be the new buzz word for Four Seasons at Elm Tree winters, too!
