March 2015 Women's Activities
Posted on Mar 25th, 2015
The month began with a calligraphy workshop held in the clubhouse for those who signed up. A retired art teacher resident instructed the Roman Chancery Cursive style, showing examples and enabling left-handers as well. Very fine results followed the introduction and practice, so Christmas cards and invitations can be made very special now! Glass painting had been offered the month before, for the second time, and many women are enjoying the option to try some new projects among new friends here!
The annual Easter candy packaging for our troops took place mid-month. This is becoming an easier job for us as it has become so well organized. We bring egg cartons and plastic eggs to fill with various Easter candies. As colorful eggs are boxed, they are added to cartons with items like granola bars, beef jerky, high socks for inside combat boots and other things listed to help the soldiers. Donations help the mailing costs and purchase of other things to pack. Over the years, thank you notes and comments have been received and shared with the neighborhood. This project will continue as long as there are addresses to use.
Of course, the monthly luncheon out was held at another new location as we try to feast on many cuisines throughout Lancaster County! Carpooling makes it much easier for some who cannot drive much anymore. Three women coordinate the times and locations of the chosen restaurants, making parking and eating together quite fun.
