EARTH MONTH
Posted on Mar 31st, 2022

March winds are blowing April showers and May flowers our way, here at Four Seasons at Elm Tree, Mount Joy, PA! Buds are bursting despite the chilly temperatures, and the landscapers are hard at work trimming, fertilizing, and mulching now to help us enjoy more free time together and outdoors once again! Golf and Pickleball members have prepared to be active during the upcoming calmer days. Exercising will soon be done under the sun, rather than indoors, although we know the Workout Room is always there for bad weather days…and nights! April 6 will have the annual Landscape Committee’s presentation at the clubhouse to clarify all aspects of work to be done this year. Some committees will have new members added to help us. There is always room for more volunteers! The seasonal Pink Moon on April 16, is named locally for the abundant wild flowers, bright pink phlox, growing soon throughout this area. This moon also sets the paschal time for Easter. Many of us will join families for another special holiday, or begin planting our herbs, flowers and veggies. Especially in Earth Month, we realize how helpful it is to have curbside recycling, as well as the drop-off location along New Holland Avenue, Lancaster, for additional recyclables. With age, we have learned well how to reuse, repair, and pass on economical and resourceful ways to eliminate waste. Environmental problems do constrain societies, but the societies’ responses make a difference! “Land, then, is not merely soil; it is a fountain of energy flowing though a circuit of soils, plants and animals.” — Aldo Leopold
