    Red-winged blackbirds are singing, geese are on the move, maple sap is running, spring peepers are serenading, days are getting longer, and nights are getting shorter! The long, awaited reawakening is upon us. Four Seasons at Elm Tree residents are ready! 

    Our daffodils are up six inches already, awaiting the robins and green buds. Walks are more enjoyable outdoors with the winds at our backs. Landscapers will be applying mulch soon, so we can venture out to plant and await new blooms. Meanwhile, our men’s and ladies’ luncheons are scheduled; the new calendar directs us; yoga and exercise sessions continue well, and we will see the return of friends from their winter trips to the south, happily updating one another at the clubhouse or neighborly visits.  

    We need not beware the Ides of March as Easter planning will keep us busy alerting families to visiting schedules, making dinner reservations, and finishing spring cleaning and decorating. Suddenly, red Christmas and Valentines will change to soft pastels and lighter touches. 

    Trees around our community will burst green leaves as St. Patrick’s Day approaches, and Daylight Savings’ Time brings us even later sunsets after March 10. It will be like Persephone, dark to light…reading books, firelight, and hearty meals become windows opened, more farm-fresh produce, and lingering on the patio after supper!
