A Latin word’s derivation was given to the month of April as its name, when buds and blooms do open and allow us to hope for even more! Here at Four Seasons at Elm Tree, the spring solstice has come and brought us winds, rains and weather that we hoped would be warmer sooner. Weather should be one of the great flavor enhancers of life; heating and cooling our houses to the same temperature year round has us miss those delectable flavors! Our name, Four Seasons, and our location in Lancaster County, PA do allow us those joys!
However, “the first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another. The difference between them is sometimes as great as a month!”*
We are noticing that now…but, flowers, trees, and bushes color the community, and we are ready to plant more. Sunshine is predicted!
In the 1300s, it was called springing times as the earth made timely changes. Now, we’re learning better to respect the earth, celebrating Earth Day April 22. We do recycle well and drive to local recycling centers to clear more from landfills. Reduce. Repurpose. Reuse.
New Board candidates will welcome our questions this month, before elections in May. Outdoor activities have begun being organized…golfers and Pickleball players are ready to practice. Bikers, walkers, hikers, tennis and Bocce enthusiasts will check their schedules. Our monthly calendar and newsletter always let us know details and times.
The sun is shining, our neighbors have returned from their warmer winter sites, landscapers are mulching, weeding and helping us enjoy our surroundings once again. Open the doors and windows to let in the many pleasures of spring!
