Gardening All Around Us!

Flowers are blooming along the streets of our senior community, Four Seasons at Elm Tree. Hanging plants, colorful annuals and perennials are in the mulched areas among the bushes and trees. Walking the development is an exercise in body and spirit, smelling the blossoms and noticing new ideas our neighbors show us from their planting choices!
I imagine we're the first over-55 community to say..."Pinch some fresh herbs for cooking tonight as you leave the pool after the day of cooling off with friends!" There are several herbs planted by the volunteers from the Garden Club right there in the stone poolside planter. They are staked and identified so you'll be aware of what you choose.
The Garden Club members also have planted flowers edging the sidewalk to the pool and clubhouse entry. Colorful planters near the pool are some other spots they found to beautify our surroundings. Anyone can join the group; male and female residents get together to share their experiences in planting. There have been field trips to nearby nurseries and plant auctions plus suggested places to find good plants cheaper!
Bunnies do hop around, choosing their plant snacks, but we gardeners expect them, and bugs!! One resident had a mallard nest in a planter and hatch her eggs recently! We never know what Mother Nature will show us!
