Any time of year, the American flag is flying from many houses here at Four Seasons at Elm Tree. However, since Memorial Day even small flags are seen among the marigolds and petunias in the mulched beds.
It's like a parade when you take a walk and notice red, white and blue flowers planted particularly to celebrate the holidays! Flag Day, then the Fourth of July will bring more. The town of Mount Joy and many businesses decorate quite a lot to add that "small town" quality of life here.
Neighbors in our over-55 community have checked their calendars, scheduling the annual July 4th picnic at the clubhouse. Many wear the patriotic colors and enjoy the traditional holiday fare. The grills near the new pavilion have had a workout during the first-of-the-season's Hot Dog Night, featuring burgers, too!
Recently over 40 of us have decided to participate in the first ever, community-wide garage sale! Clearing out always feels good, even in summer. Walking the streets to check for good buys and say hello made the beautiful day a special one!
