Solar Weather

    

     More rain than last summer, but sunny days at Four Seasons at Elm Tree were very nice and hot, conducive to the many outdoor activities winding down this month. Awaiting the solar eclipse has many of us checking what to expect and observe very soon. Meanwhile, bocce players, golfers, water aerobics devotees and others will revamp their schedules with weekly bowling or walking the neighborhood with friends and preparing for the second community yard sale. Home from vacations, we will sign up for the luncheons again to catch up with one another, attend committee meetings and resume local volunteering.

     The last Hot Dog & Burger Night will be followed closely by the Labor Day Picnic and swimming pool closing, officially ending summer in our over-55 community. Farm markets’ produce will be missed, however, we are quite fortunate to have year-around markets available for a variety of local foods. Mums will be bought and planted to add more seasonal color to the waning summer annuals. Our volunteer board and landscape committee members have maintained a beautiful development for us here throughout the sun and rain all season.

      For 2 1/2 hours on Monday, August 21, we’ll notice the shadow produced by the solar eclipse as the moon passes before the sun. It should be a memorable and photographic event!
