EQUAL DAY AND NIGHT
Posted on Sep 1st, 2017

Fireflies, crickets and katydids have left the evenings’ cooler and darker

at Four Seasons at Elm Tree. Prepare the bird feeders for oncoming winterafter the September 22 equinox! Mother Nature should balance day and night on that date this year. We’ll be balancing all of our activities, ready to warm our houses, gather for clubhouse meals and think about holiday fun with friends and family.

Labor Day passes with most of us happy to be beyond day labor anymore and enjoying retirement! We can work in our planting areas, bike the development, walk the park’s path nearby, meet new neighbors and continue to help one another. And, golfers still may be out!

In our over-55 community, there are plenty of new things to do, ideas to consider and regular luncheons, committee meetings, weekly games and exercising to try. The early fall is a popular time for seniors to venture out on vacations while school has resumed and some prime-time costs are lower. Germany, Alaska and Las Vegas have been mentioned!

Fresh applesauce-making might replace corn chowder soon. Farm markets continue to bless us with good, local produce and special Lancaster food products. Try the recipes in our monthly newsletter and enjoy the best efforts at Pot Luck Dinners! Warmth comes from autumn cooking as well as good friendships here at Four Seasons at Elm Tree!
