HISTORIC TIME
Not only is it the USA’s celebration year, but also Mount Joy has one, too! We have learned that Mt. should not be used for Mount Joy, as there is no mount. The Earl of Mountjoy had land in Ireland and sent his ship of the same name with our early settlers to this area. Hence, the ship sculpture along Main Street..
Flags, banners, fireworks will be everywhere, so check for when and where you’ll view any! Red, white and blue will be on clothing, home decor and even desserts! Four Seasons at Elm Tree will have its own festivities at the clubhouse on the 4th of July. Of course, our salt water pool will be a favorite attraction along with traditional foods, games and fun designed for all of us.
Meanwhile, some of us are traveling or enjoying visitors and family. We are trying to stay cool amidst the heat, touring local history spots, enjoying music and art in Lancaster, walking and biking the beautiful trails, and always finding farm markets with fresh produce and eggs! The corn is high and about ready to eat! Picnics at local parks or along the rivers may be planned.
Having managed well through the long, cold winter, we now can relax, dress lightly, eat cooler meals and live outdoors, on the deck, patio or porch comfortably. Friends and neighbors join us for many activities that continue throughout the summer days.
Sunshine is good for our dose of Vitamin D, and for the soul!
