Hunter Moon
Posted on Nov 1st, 2020
As another October full moon wanes, Orion, the hunter will be appearing soon, the brightest, most noticeable constellation in our skies. Four Seasons at Elm Tree residents have an easier chance to enjoy it, having fewer bright lights and trees to interfere with a sighting. Some of us have been standing outdoors at night to see the satellite fly above!
Living in an over-55 community and being retired or nearly so, give us many opportunities to enjoy the joys of life and nature that may have escaped us as busier working people. Dolce far niente, the sweetness of doing nothing, has been more imposed on us during the pandemic than even our retirement routine. However, most of us stay quite active exercising at the clubhouse, walking the paths nearby, keeping in touch with neighbors needing an extra hand, and volunteering on committees as well as many organizations outside our community. Golfers and Pickleball schedules, card games, Book Club meetings, clubhouse library visits have added to our days of concern for the health of everyone. Extra activity will come now as holidays approach with families and friends in our thoughts even more.
There's a time and place for "to do" lists, but they should be balanced with "stop doing" lists! So, write the two in tandem. Think consciously about the less desirable things that are consuming your time and how to eliminate them completely. Let the two lists balance each other so that you, too, feel balanced on a daily basis. And keep in mind this wonderful quote from Warren Buffett: "The difference between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say no to almost everything.”
